This is great piece on National Grid’s drive to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their legal function.  The work they have undertaken on collaboration is essential and it is important to note that greater collaboration in your supply chain means collaboration not just with your immediate external counsel, between your various providers and also within each provider’s supply chain.  Greater collaboration on information and processes is a great starting point and I would strongly recommend it.

Those representatives broke out into sessions with NG staffers to work on those six priorities. Two law firms were allocated per priority: DLA and HSF on knowhow and horizon-scanning; Linklaters and Bircham Dyson Bell on relationship management; Irwin Mitchell and Shakespeare Martineau on new technology and systems; Addleshaw Goddard and BLP on reporting and MI; Eversheds and Dentons on instruction protocol; and CMS and Norton Rose Fulbright on KPIs and ‘golden rules’.
